Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be camping out in tents?

Depending on your course and experience, you will be either sleeping under a waterproof shelter-sheet (incorporated in to your own shelter) or will be in a shelter without a shelter-sheet. Either way, you will always use a waterproof Bivi bag.

Can I bring my own knife?

The standard policy is for you to only use the knives as provided by us after you have had instruction as part of the first lesson. Should you wish to bring your own knife, please email us to tell us why you would like your own.

Should I bring my own food / water?

We will provide all food and supplementary water for the weekend; you should bring 2lt of water in robust waterbottles. You are welcome to supplement the food with 'rations' should you wish. We would recommend that you don't bring chocolate, however, as this tends to melt in your bag causing a proper mess!! Nuts/fruit/dried foods are ideal.

Are we allowed Alcohol?

Throughout all of the courses, you will be instructed in the use of knives, axes and fire-making. We don't believe that mixing alcohol with these skills is especially prudent. Should you have a special reason for alcohol, please contact us with details prior to arrival. Landrock reserves the right to refuse continuance of the course if alcohol is found without prior permission. A refund will not be given.

Do you conduct single-sex courses?

Landrock is happy to cater for all requirements, please email for details.

I have allergies. Will this stop me from attending?

You will be camping out in a mixed woodland. It is your own responsibility to bring suitable medication and to alert the instructor to your medication prior to course commencing.

Are you insured or do I need to provide my own?

Landrock is insured for £5 million Third Party Public Liability but you are advised to take out your own, should you feel it necessary, informing your company that you will be using knives and hand tools.

Can I bring my camera?

Of Course!!
